KATHMANDU, MAY 13
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index posted a double-digit fall on Sunday, dropping by 14.87 points to close at 2,634.23 points by the end of the trading day.
Similarly, the sensitive index also declined by 0.31% and Float index dropped by 0.33%.
A total of 314 companies were traded during the day, with 21,828,231 shares exchanged through 102,445 transactions. The daily turnover stood at Rs 9.63 billion.
Today the market was mostly negative with only few recording gains. The Development Bank index rose by 0.88 percent, Life Insurance by 0.95 percent, and Manufacturing & Processing by 0.34 percent. All other sectoral indices witnessed declines.
The Banking index dropped by 0.30 percent, Finance by 1.91 percent, Hotels and Tourism by 2.21 percent, Hydropower by 1.18 percent, and Investment by 0.79 percent. Similarly, the Microfinance index declined by 0.69 percent, Mutual Funds by 0.18 percent, Non-life Insurance by 0.59 percent, Trading by 2.46 percent, and Others by 0.60 percent.
Among the day's top gainers, Crest Micro Life Insurance Limited and Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Limited hit the positive circuit breaker.
Universal Power Company Limited led both in terms of transaction volume and value, with 1,546,489 shares traded worth Rs 672.1 million.
Today, 168 scrips declined while only 77 scrips declined and one remained unchanged.
By the end of the trading day, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.381 trillion.
