KATHMANDU, MAY 21
The weather across the country is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy today, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning likely in several areas.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, rainfall is forecast at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, including the hilly regions. Isolated showers may occur in other parts of the country. There is also a chance of light snowfall at one or two locations in the high mountainous regions.
For tonight, partly to generally cloudy conditions are expected in Koshi, Madhesh, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, including hilly areas. The rest of the country will see partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the aforementioned provinces and at isolated spots elsewhere. Light snowfall is possible at one or two places in the high mountain areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
In the Kathmandu Valley, the sky will remain partly to generally cloudy, with brief rain or thundershowers likely during both day and night. The probability of rainfall stands at around 40 percent in the afternoon and 30 percent at night.
The prevailing weather pattern is influenced by a western disturbance, local wind systems, and the partial impact of moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.
