KATHMANDU, MAY 14
President and Chief Executive Officer of Isekado Brewery, Narihiro Suzuki from Japan visited Nepal to explore the possibility of either exporting his company beers into Nepal or to set up a joint venture in Nepal to produce his brand of beers in Nepal.
Isekado's parent company is a long-established mochi (rice cake) shop that dates back to 1575. Since founding the craft beer business in 1997, the beer company has made steady progress in the domestic bear market, emerging as the third largest company among the craft beer producing companies that two per cent market share in the total beer market in Japan.
Suzuki said he was still learning about investment procedures in Nepal. I don't know about the market price in Nepal but I think If I sell my products in Nepal, it would be little higher than the price of beers available in the market, he added.
He said Japanese companies' collaboration with Nepali companies in the beer market could also help promote bilateral relations. Many Japanese companies don't know much about Nepal and that could be the reason why not many Japanese companies have invested much in Nepal. Suzuki, who is also a visiting professor at Shizuoka University, said his company sells its beers in 11 countries including, USA, Australia, Thailand and China. His partner factory in Vietnam produces his company's brand of beer.
Suzuki said his company beers made from different ingredients and fermented at 20–25-degree Celsius taste good as they have rich aroma and favour. The percentage of alcohol in Isekado beers range from 0.5 per cent to 17 per cent.
