KATHMANDU, MAY 5

A 25-year-old dancing sensation from Nepal has already reached the Everest base camp to attempt to climb the world's highest peak this spring season, officials said.

According to the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation, Kabita Mainali from Sarlahi obtained a permit for the Everest expedition.

"Kabita is a member of the 8K Nepalese Everest Expedition 2025," the DoT said.

Pemba Sherpa, Chairman at 8K Expeditions Pvt. Ltd also confirmed that Kabita is a part of three-member expedition led by Rabindra Tamang. The 8K Nepalese Everest Expedition 2025 has three members – Kabita, Rabindra and Akkal Bahadur Bohara, according to Sherpa.

Kabita, also a fitness model, music video model, and stage performer, has gained significant recognition after winning the 2018 international franchise dance reality show "Boogie Woogie." She is featured in over 50 music videos, including popular tracks like "Aakhaima," "Jhyam Jhyam," and "Phuteko Chura" among others.

Kabita climbed Lobuche peak as her acclimatisation climb. "My first-ever mountain climbing adventure, where I push my limits, embrace challenges, and soak in breathtaking views and the sheer joy of conquering my first peak," she wrote on Facebook after her Lobuche summit on January 14.
