The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast above-average rainfall for the upcoming monsoon season.
Based on an analysis of recent weather patterns, the department predicts higher-than-average rainfall across most parts of the country between June 1 and September 30.
Director Kamal Ram Joshi stated that both maximum and minimum temperatures are also expected to rise during the monsoon period.
"Rainfall is projected to be 35 to 65 percent higher than average, depending on the province," he said, adding that maximum temperatures are also expected to rise by a similar margin-between 35 and 65 percent above the seasonal average.
Similarly, minimum temperatures are forecast to increase by 35 to 55 percent above the long-term average.
