KATHMANDU, MAY 21

Relief materials were delivered today to Til village in Namkha Rural Municipality-6, Humla, seven days after a glacial lake outburst flood and subsequent landslide struck the area on the night of May 15.

A joint team comprising representatives from Namkha Rural Municipality, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the organization Aadhar Nepal reached the remote village with essential supplies for 19 households at high risk of further landslides. Namkha Rural Municipality Chairperson Prem Bahadur Lama personally accompanied the relief team.

Chief District Officer Narayan Pandey confirmed that the aid-intended to meet urgent needs for food, shelter, and clothing-was delivered this morning. The relief package included 10 quintals of rice, 100 liters of oil, two quintals each of salt and sugar, 30 quintals of flour, one quintal each of flattened rice and puffed rice, as well as tea, potatoes, vegetables, soap, medicines, and cement.

In addition, a team from the Nepal Red Cross Society's district branch has departed for the affected area today. Led by Chairperson Ganesh Mahat, the team is carrying tarpaulins, blankets, and mattresses for the displaced.

The Drinking Water, Irrigation, and Energy Development Office in Humla has also contributed by supplying 1,800 meters of drinking water pipes.

Currently, 33 individuals from 19 households are living under tarpaulins after being displaced by the disaster. Due to the remote terrain, the relief materials were first transported to the nearest motorable point in Halji village, and then carried to Til village by porters, horses, and mules.
