KATHMANDU, APRIL 27
Skanda Gautam from The Himalayan Times was honoured with the Political Photojournalism Award at the 5th National Photojournalism Award 2025 held in Lalitpur on Saturday. In his absence, the award was received by his wife, daughter, and son.
Organised by the National Forum of Photojournalists (NFPJ Nepal) to mark National Photojournalism Day, the ceremony recognised excellence in various categories of photojournalism.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Devaraj Ghimire and Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadkapresented the awards to the receipents.

Other awardees included Kabita Thapa and Manoj Ratna Shahi from Gorkhapatra, who received the Women Photojournalism Award and the Tourism and Culture Photojournalism Award, respectively.
Awards were also presented to Dipendra Dhungana (Naya Patrika Daily) for daily life, Rajiv Hengaju (Nepal Army) for independent photojournalism, Abhishek Maharjan (Annapurna Post) for entertainment, and Chandra Bahadur Ale (OnlineKhabar.com) for economic photojournalism.
Additionally, top photojournalists from each of Nepal's seven provinces were recognised for their outstanding work.
