KATHMANDU, JUNE 8

President Ramchandra Paudel has said Nepal holds immense potential for the development of sports tourism, citing the country's unique geography as ideal for events like ultra-marathons.

Speaking at a meeting with officials from the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) at Shital Niwas today, President Paudel noted the successful organization of long-distance races-from the foothills of Sagarmatha to Nepalgunj-as examples of Nepal's capacity to host adventure sports events.

He urged international bodies like AIMS to help promote sports tourism in Nepal, saying such events could open new opportunities in the sector.

President Paudel also underlined the role of sports in fostering peace, unity, and health, and noted that both the government and private sector are increasingly investing in sports development. He thanked AIMS for selecting Nepal as the venue for its board meeting.
