KATHMANDU, MAY 20

British mountaineer Kenton Cool, 51, gestures after returning from his 19th successful summit of Mount Everest, setting a new record for the most ascents by a non-Sherpa climber at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

Kenton, from Gloucestershire, South West England, along with Dorjee Gyaljen Sherpa reached the summit point at around 9:15am on May 18, said officials. Dorji Gyaljen also made it to the top of Everest for 23 times. He also broke his own British record for the most summits of the world's highest peak.

Kenton also holds a record of the first British mountaineer who climbed Mt Nuptse, Mt Everest and Mt Lhotse in a season in 2013. Kenton had made it to the top of Mt Lhotse in less than 29 hours after scaling the world's highest peak in 2021.
