The National Assembly unanimously passed the Customs Bill, 2080 BS during its meeting on Monday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel presented the bill, forwarded by the House of Representatives, expressing confidence that it will help address issues in customs administration and enhance revenue mobilisation.
"The bill will prevent revenue leakages, ensure transparency in the customs system, and facilitate international trade," Paudel said during the theoretical discussion.
Lawmakers Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami, Bhagawati Neupane, Dr Beduram Bhusal, Tulasa Kumari Dahal, Maya Prasad Sharma, and Gopal Bhattarai took part in the deliberations.
Chairperson of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, informed members that amendment proposals can be submitted to the Bills Section.
Earlier, Tulasa Kumari Dahal, Chair of the Legislative Management Committee, presented the committee's report on the Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Rights, and Procedures) Amendment Bill, 2079.
Also tabled was a message from the House of Representatives on the Water Resources Bill, 2081, presented by National Assembly Secretary Dr Surendra Aryal.
