KATHMANDU, MAY 20

A cultural program titled "Cultural Appreciation 2082" was organized in Kathmandu on Sunday to highlight Nepal's diverse cultural traditions and facilitate international exchange. The event was hosted by Maulika Films Pvt. Ltd. in association with Dhaulagiri Adventure Pvt. Ltd., and coordinated by Dan Ghising.

Themed "Respect for Creation, Pride in Culture," the event included a roundtable discussion on cultural sustainability, stage performances, award presentations, and a dinner networking session.

Participants included representatives from municipal government, diplomatic missions, religious institutions, academic sectors, and cultural organizations. Among the attendees were Acting Mayor of Dhorpatan Municipality Dhan Bahadur Kayat; Honorary Consul of Ethiopia to Nepal Dr. Rajendra Giri; Bhikkhu Tapassī Dhammā Mahāthera Bir of Shree Charumati Buddha Bihar; Maulika Films Chairman Kumar Karki; environmental researcher Prof. Dr. Shova Tamrakar; and representatives from cultural groups in Nepal and Australia.

Special awards were presented to public representative Chhayan Magar, UK-based rural development specialist Garry De La Pomerai, and U.S.-based Buddhist scholar Dr. John Whitney Pettit.

The event also included traditional and contemporary cultural performances, including a musical act by Shruti Rai.

According to organizers, the event was intended to provide a space for dialogue on cultural preservation and to build connections among individuals and institutions working in the cultural sector.
