KATHMANDU, JUNE 15

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast widespread rainfall across the country today and tonight, as monsoon activity intensifies in various regions.

Today the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the country. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at several places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few locations in the remaining provinces. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces.

There are also chances of light snowfall at a few places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two locations in similar regions of the other provinces.

As the night transition to the night partly to generally cloudy conditions will persist across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected at some places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few places in the rest of the provinces. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Light snowfall is also possible at a few places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two spots in the mountainous regions of other provinces.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted a high chance of rainfall in the Valley. Skies are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the day with a 60 percent chance of brief rain or thundershowers in the afternoon. The rain is likely to continue into the night with an 80 percent chance of precipitation.

Monsoon winds are currently influencing weather patterns in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and parts of eastern Lumbini provinces. Meanwhile, westerly and local winds are impacting the western region of the country.
